Taking the premium, medium-sized estate to new levels, even by Volvo standards, is the new Volvo V60. With generous levels of equipment and connectivity, including the fitment of Volvo On Call connected services to every model in the range as standard, the 2018 Volvo V60 also offers a significant advance for automotive safety: City Safety automatic emergency braking to reduce oncoming crashes. With its exciting design, and features normally only found in the larger Volvo 90 series, the new Volvo V60 is one of the most desirable cars coming to our showrooms this year, and you can order yours today.
Using Volvo Drive-E technology, there will be a choice of engines available at launch: a D3 diesel, offering 150hp, 64.2mpg and CO2 emissions of only 117g/km; a D4 diesel, producing 190hp, giving 64mpg and also producing only 117g/km of CO2 emissions; and a 250hp T5 petrol engine, offering 43.7mpg and producing 150g/km of emissions. All three engines are powerful and efficient 2.0-litre, four-cylinder units. Another petrol engine and a choice of two plug-in Twin Engine hybrids are due by June 2019.
If you choose one of the diesel engines, you can take your pick between a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic. Go the petrol route and you’ll get the eight-speed automatic gearbox. Whichever engine and transmission combination you choose, the new Volvo V60 is all about exceptional control, sharp responses and excellent comfort. There’s a choice of three default driving modes, accessed through a simple roller control that allows you to set up the engine, steering, brakes, stability control, stop/start function and the automatic gearbox to various pre-set values. Alternatively, you can go to Individual mode and enter your own settings. Add the Four-C active chassis to gain control of the suspension and to vary the shock absorbers automatically for optimum comfort and control, based on the road conditions and your driving style.
Standard across the 2018 Volvo V60 range is the Sensus touch screen control system with 9” portrait screen. This innovative system gives you access to satellite navigation with lifetime map updates and your choice of apps, including Google Local Search, Spotify, TuneIn and Yelp. In addition to the touch screen, you can also access all the V60’s infotainment and safety functions just by speaking to your car. Also standard across the range are two-zone climate control with the 'CleanZone' air-quality system, rear parking sensors, LED headlights, a powered tailgate and a 12.3” driver's information display. Volvo On Call lets you control key functions of your V60 via your smartphone. That means you can run your climate control system remotely, so your car is at the perfect temperature before you get into it. You can also set up your sat nav and you can even access details of all the trips you’ve made over the last 100 days, ideal for working out your mileage, if claiming expenses.
The 2018 Volvo V60 fully enhances Volvo’s reputation for safety. City Safety is Volvo’s highly advanced autonomous emergency braking system that can detect not only other vehicles ahead, but also pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. In a ground-breaking development, this system can now activate to avoid an accident with an on-coming vehicle. City Safety coupled with steering support can also assist you in steering around a hazard in the road, again avoiding a possible accident.
Volvo is working towards autonomous driving and the Pilot Assist system is available on the V60. This is a semi-autonomous system that works with the steering, braking and acceleration at speeds of up to 80mph to help you stay in lane, keep to your pre-set speed and maintain your distance from the vehicle in front
You can add even more superb equipment to your new V60. If you love music, just specify the premium Harman Kardon sound system and enjoy the 600W output from its 14 speakers. But if you really love your music, specify your new V60 with the Bowers & Wilkins sound system with advanced digital surround sound processing and a 1,100W output from 15 speakers.
Add the Xenium package to get a powered tilt and slide panoramic glass sunroof for the journey and a 360o surround-view parking camera system and Park Assist Pilot for your arrival – arrive at your destination and Park Assist Pilot will help, thanks to its automatic parallel and 90o parking features.
To expand the already generous 529-litre load compartment, one of the largest in the segment, you can even get an electrically operated folding backrest to take full advantage of the 60/40 split folding rear seat. And keyless entry means the powered tailgate makes life even easier.
